The chair was taken by Mr. W. I!. Lord, ami Mr. IS. North acted as secretary, and amongst others on the platform were Mr. O. W. Clifford, late M. I'. IV. Who was present as a candidate for the parliamentary sent, and Messrs. R. iCuuniiigliam, McAllister, Davis, Pollnril, li. Chambers, J, Uilumre and Thos. A. Gregg, of Vancouver.

Mr. McAllister proposeu the nomination of Mr. V. \V. Clifford as the Conservative in'.iilidatt' for the division, and Mr. It. (.'uniiiiighaui seconded the motion, which was carried hy acclamation. Mr. UlilTord expressed his appreciation of the honor which had been dune him, but did not wish to say much tit present until the Conservative party in other centres of the district hud expressed their views. lie stated that both himself and the premier, the Hon, Mr. It. McBridc. would visit port Ivssington ill a few weeks' time, and he would then have an opportunity of speaking more fully on political affairs. lie alluded to the benefits that would accrue to tho district hy the construction of the proposed, ami partly surveyed, I\itima-at anil Hazollon railway, which in the last I parliament he had been unable..to secure, I t>Ut he hoped that in a Conservative house this beneficial undertaking would be approved. ,

Mr. Davis proposed a list of committeemen, Mr. Kirby delivered a scholarly dissertation ou the advantages of party lines in politics. i

The requisition nominating Mr. C. W. D. Clifford was as follows: i
